Rock Spring Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Child Sexual Abuse Charge

ALBUQUERQUE—This morning in federal court in Albuquerque, Karl Domingo, 37, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Rock Spring, New Mexico, pled guilty to an information charging him with abusive sexual contact.

At sentencing, Domingo faces a maximum penalty of four years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. Domingo also will be required to register as a sex offender. Domingo remains on conditions of release that were imposed after he was arrested in July 2011 pending his sentencing hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.

Domingo entered his guilty plea under a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. In his plea agreement, Domingo admitted that, in the summer of 2007, he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old female child by touching her genitalia with his finger. Domingo further admitted that the sexual assault occurred at the child’s home, which was located within the Navajo Indian Reservation.

This case was investigated by the Gallup Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle T. Nayback.
