FBI and San Diego Sheriff's Department Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Serial Bank Robber


Man Believed Responsible for Three Bank Robberies in One Day

The FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown man believed responsible for robbing three banks in one day.

The suspect is believed responsible for robbing the following banks on Friday, June 15, 2012, using a demand note in each robbery:

(1) The Chase Bank branch located at 12380 Poway Road in Poway, California, at approximately 9:32 a.m.
(2) The U.S. Bank branch located at 245 Vista Village Drive in Vista, California, at approximately 1:31 p.m.
(3) The U.S. Bank branch located at 13395 Poway Road in Poway, California, at approximately 3:05 p.m.

During the robbery of the Chase Bank, the robber approached the teller and presented a demand note, followed by a verbal demand for money. The suspect indicated that he was armed. The teller complied with the robber’s demand and provided him with a sum of money. After receiving the money, the robber walked out the bank and was last seen fleeing the area in a dark-colored sedan. The robber was described as a white male, approximately 60 years old, approximately 5’9” tall, with a white scruffy beard. He was wearing a blue baseball cap and a blue windbreaker. The baseball cap had the letter “C” on the front, similar to a Chicago Cubs logo.

During the robbery of the U.S. Bank at 245 Vista Village Drive in Vista, California, the robber presented a demand note and threatened to be armed with a weapon. The robber received a sum of money from the teller and exited the bank. The robber was described as a white male, approximately 5’9” tall, average build, scruffy beard, blue baseball cap, blue windbreaker, and wearing glasses. No weapon was observed and no injuries reported.

During the robbery of the U.S. Bank at 13395 Poway Road in Poway, California, the robber presented a demand note to a teller. After receiving a sum of money from the teller, the teller exited the bank. No weapon was observed and no injuries reported.

Age: Approximately 60 years old
Height: Approximately 5’9”—6’0” tall
Weight: Approximately 225 lbs.
Build: Average to heavy
Hair: Scruffy facial hair
Eyes: Unknown
Clothing: Blue baseball cap, blue windbreaker, blue jeans glasses. During the first robby, the suspect is believed to have worn a blue baseball cap with a red letter “C”; the hat looked similar to a Cubs baseball cap.
Weapon: Threatened weapon, but none observed
