Customs
and Border Protection aids U.S. Marshals Service
Tucson, Ariz. – Customs and Border Protection’s
Air and Marine joined forces with the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Offender
Task Force and local law enforcement to apprehend a wanted criminal Wednesday.
The subject was wanted for conspiracy to
commit murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping
and aggravated assault. Air and Marine assisted the U.S. Marshals Service East
Valley Task Force by providing high-level air surveillance of a property in
Huachuca City, Ariz., where the task force believed the suspect was residing.
Air and Marine personnel kept law enforcement officers on the ground advised of
activity outside the residence and of hazards that could pose a danger to task
force members approaching the residence. The subject was located inside the
residence and taken into custody without incident.
This joint operation serves as an
example of how CBP assets, such as Air and Marine, works with other law
enforcement agencies to improve the quality of life in border communities. This
alliance is significantly strengthening law enforcement efforts across federal,
state, tribal and local jurisdictions, and will continue to do so for years to
come.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is
the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with
the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between
official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist
weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
