Sierra Blanca Border Patrol Agents Seize Over 1,000 Pounds of Marijuana

Marfa, Texas – Marfa Sector Border Patrol agents at the Sierra Blanca Checkpoint on Interstate 10 seized 1,025 pounds of marijuana on Jan. 31. The seizure was made after a Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the presence of concealed drugs or humans during an immigration inspection.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday morning, agents discovered 22 bundles of marijuana mixed in with the freight located in the trailer of an 18-wheeler. The truck was operated by a U.S. citizen from Arizona along with a passenger who was also a U.S. citizen from Arizona.

The drugs have a street value of over $820,000.

The drivers, the vehicle and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
