Sierra Blanca Border Patrol Agents Seize Over 1,000 Pounds of Marijuana
Marfa, Texas – Marfa Sector Border Patrol agents at the Sierra Blanca Checkpoint on Interstate 10 seized 1,025 pounds of marijuana on Jan. 31. The seizure was made after a Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the presence of concealed drugs or humans during an immigration inspection.
Shortly after Monday morning, agents discovered 22 bundles of marijuana mixed in with the freight located in the trailer of an 18-wheeler. The truck was operated by a U.S. citizen from Arizona along with a passenger who was also a U.S. citizen from Arizona.
The drugs have a street value of over $820,000.
The drivers, the vehicle and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
