FBI and San Diego Police Department Seek Public’s Help to Identify Torrey Pines Bank Robber

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male responsible for robbing the Torrey Pines Bank, located at
9280 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, California
, on Tuesday, February 1, 2011.

On Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at approximately , the Torrey Pines Bank, located at
9280 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, California
, was robbed by an unknown male.

According to witnesses, the robber entered the bank and approached a bank employee sitting at a desk across the lobby from the teller stations. The robber told the employee he was there to rob the bank and removed a white bag that was covering his right hand. In the robber’s hand was a revolver that he pointed at the employee. The robber yelled, “This is a robbery!” and demanded money. The robber then ordered everyone in the bank to move from their locations and stand behind the teller stations. The robber provided the first bank employee, a white plastic bag and ordered the employee to fill the bag with money from individual tellers. After placing a sum of money into the bag, the robber grabbed the bag from the employee. The robber then ordered everyone to turn around while he exited the bank.

A witness observed the robber enter a beige or gold colored pickup truck possibly a Ford F-150, with an extended cab, black wheels with possible bead lock, black bed liner, late 90’s or early 2000 model.

The robber is described as follows:

Race: White
Sex: Male
Age: Approximately 50 to 60 years old
Height: Approximately 5’2” - 5’5” tall
Build: Slender to medium
Hair: Light grey stubble beard
Clothing: Tan fisherman’s hat, dark shoes with thick soles, blue jeans, loose fitting big round sunglasses with dark tint, red undershirt, grey long sleeve shirt with a dark horizontal stripe
