The largest of the seizures occurred when agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station responded to suspected narcotics smuggling activity east of Rio Grande City , Texas . When the agents approached the area, they saw a white Chevrolet pickup truck traveling north toward Highway 83.
Upon seeing the agents’ marked Border Patrol vehicles, the driver of the pickup made an abrupt stop and bailed out of the truck fleeing into the nearby brush. In the bed and cab of the truck agents discovered more than 770 pounds of marijuana valued at over $600,000.
The combined marijuana seizures from yesterday’s were valued at over $2.6 million and were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
