BOISE – Brian Cade Humphreys, 46, of Meridian, Idaho, was
sentenced last week to fourteen years in federal prison followed by ten years
of supervised release for distribution of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Bart
M. Davis announced. Humphreys was sentenced by U.S. District Judge B. Lynn
Winmill. A federal grand jury indicted Humphreys on July 11, 2018.
According to court records, law enforcement used a
confidential informant to purchase methamphetamine from Humphreys on four
separate occasions. Humphreys has a lengthy criminal history that includes a
prior crime of violence and a drug trafficking offense. Because of Humphreys’
lengthy criminal history, the court determined Humphreys to be a career
offender under the federal sentencing guidelines. This resulted in Humphreys
receiving a higher prison sentence.
This case was investigated by Treasure Valley Metro Violent
Crimes Task Force. The Task Force is comprised of federal, state and local
agencies, including Federal Bureau of Investigation; Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Department of Homeland Security; Boise Police
Department; Ada County Sheriff’s Office; Caldwell Police Department; Nampa
Police Department; Meridian Police Department; Canyon County Sheriff’s Office;
and Idaho Department of Probation and Parole.
