BOSTON - An Illinois man was indicted yesterday in federal
court in Boston in connection with a bank robbery.
Eugene Davis, 54, of Chicago, Ill., was indicted on one
count of bank robbery.
It is alleged that on June 3, 2019, Davis robbed a branch of
the East Boston Savings Bank located in South Boston.
The charge provides for a sentence of no greater than 20
years in prison, up to five years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based on the United
States Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling; Joseph R.
Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigations,
Boston Field Division; Colonel Kerry A. Gilpin, Superintendent of the
Massachusetts State Police; and Boston Police Chief William Gross made the
announcement today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of
Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
The details contained in the charging documents are
allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty
beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
