Scranton, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin Pane announced the
arrest of Dashawn McLendon, 21, and Ibn McClain, 15, wanted for aggravated
assault with a firearm as well as other related offenses.
It is alleged that on December 4, 2015 both McLendon and
McClain shot and robbed their victim. Subsequently after the shooting, the
Wilkes-Barre Police Department filed criminal complaints charging both with
aggravated assault-general-firearm, robbery-inflict serious body
injury-firearm, firearms act-convict/other persons not to possess firearms and
firearms act-carry firearm without a license.
In the early morning hours of December 10, deputy U.S.
marshals, task force officers from the Middle and Eastern District of
Pennsylvania and South Whitehall Township Police Department arrested McLendon
and McClain at a hotel in Allentown, PA. After the fugitives ignored various
verbal commands to surrender, the hotel door was breached and they were taken
into custody without further incident. Four firearms were recovered in the
hotel room. South Whitehall Township SERT Team played a significant role in
their arrest. McLendon was transported back to Luzerne County and McClain was
turned over to the Luzerne County Juvenile Probation Office.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The top
priority of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force is to arrest violent
offenders, especially those who use guns against our citizens. It is my sincere
hope that these arrests bring some measure of comfort to the victim.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel
from the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police,
Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, South Whitehall Township Police
Department as well as members of the South Whitehall Township Police
Departments SERT team.
