Murder Suspect Flees San Antonio Arrested in Houston

Suspect Facing Murder Charge

Houston, TX - Tre Anthony Jones, 23, was arrested this afternoon by members of the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force (GCVOTF), in Houston, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an investigation by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), where it is alleged that Jones committed murder.

This morning, members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) contacted members of the GCVOTF to assist in searching for Jones in Houston. Members of the GCVOTF immediately initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Jones. This afternoon, through investigative efforts and extensive surveillance, task force officers located Jones near the midtown area of Houston. Task force officers identified themselves, made contact with Jones, and took him into custody without incident.

On September 26, 2015, Jones along with another suspect, Dominique Bailey, 27, allegedly open fired with 2 handguns in the 700 block of Sterling Drive, on San Antonio’s east side. Reports stated that Jones and Bailey fired multiple bullets in the direction of a vehicle that was occupied by a driver and front seat passenger. The driver sustained severe gunshot wounds to his legs and the passenger, a 16 year old boy, was shot dead in his seat. After a thorough investigation by SAPD Homicide detectives, warrants were issued for both suspects. Bailey was arrested by SAPD officers shortly after the warrants were issued, but Jones remained a fugitive on the run until he was arrested today.

Jones is currently being held in custody at the Travis County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition to Bexar County.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, stated, “This was truly another senseless crime that took the life of a mother’s child. These acts of violence have to stop, because there are no winners, only heartache and pain felt by the loved ones of the victims. I pray that one day the victim’s mother can find peace after the loss of her son.”
