Husband Arrested for Shooting His Wife

Suspect Facing Manslaughter Charge

San Antonio, TX - Lars Erik Itzo, 48, was arrested this afternoon by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) and the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), in San Antonio, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an investigation by the SAPD, where it is alleged that Itzo committed manslaughter.

This afternoon, LSFTF officers initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Itzo. Through extensive surveillance and investigative efforts, task force officers located Itzo in the 20000 block of Highway 281 North. Task force officers identified themselves, made contact with Itzo, and took him into custody without incident.

On October 10, 2015, Itzo allegedly shot and killed his wife in the early morning hours at their home, after mistaking her for an intruder. Reports stated that Itzo thought someone was breaking into their home so he grabbed his gun, fired, and struck the victim once in the upper body. The victim was identified as Deborah Kelly and was pronounced dead at the scene.

After a thorough investigation by SAPD Homicide detectives, a warrant was issued today for Itzo’s arrest.

Itzo is currently being held in custody at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, stated, “I’m thankful that our task force officers affected this arrest quickly and safely while ensuring that no one was injured. This is a very sensitive matter and I am confident that our justice system will handle this case accordingly.”
