On May 17, 2008 , ICE HSI special agents executed a federal search warrant at Jason McGlaughlin's Latham , N.Y. , residence based, in part, on information that an individual at the residence was using a computer and the Internet to trade child pornography. It was also alleged that the individual had provided sleeping medication to an 11-year-old girl, and thereafter filmed her in a sexually explicit pose. McGlaughlin was arrested the same day.
During the execution of the search warrant, ICE HSI special agents recovered a computer hard drive that contained child pornography. The sleeping drug Ambien was also recovered from McGlaughlin's bedroom.
On Feb. 24, McGlaughlin pleaded guilty to two counts of producing child pornography, and has been in custody since his arrest.
The investigation was part of Operation Predator, a nationwide ICE initiative to identify, investigate and arrest those who prey on children, including human traffickers, international sex tourists, Internet pornographers, and foreign-national predators whose crimes make them deportable.
ICE encourages the public to report suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its toll-free hotline at 1-866-DHS-2ICE. This hotline is staffed around the clock by investigators.
