Kenneth Kimbley, Jr., 58, of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Steven Winegar, 51, of Harpster, Idaho, were indicted on July 20 by a federal grand jury sitting in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for making explosive devices, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. Kimbley was also indicted for felon in possession of a firearm. Kimbley and Winegar were arraigned on July 28. A jury trial is scheduled for August 31, 2010.
According to the indictment, Kimbley and Winegar made improvised explosive devices. Kimbley, a convicted felon, also allegedly sold a .22 caliber handgun to an undercover officer, which is illegal under federal law.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
An indictment is a means of charging a person with criminal activity. It is not evidence. The person is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
