Scranton, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced
the arrest of Tony Edwards, a 28-year-old man, and Wandalee Balcacer, a
25-year-old woman wanted by the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department for
criminal attempt homicide.
On October 5, 2015 the Middle District of Pennsylvania
Fugitive Task Force arrested Edwards and Balcacer, without incident, in Hanover
Township and Wilkes-Barre respectively. Both were turned over to local
authorities pending court proceedings.
It is alleged that on April 4, 2015 Edwards and Balcacer
played a role in which two individuals were shot in the head at the Interfaith
Heights Housing Complex off of Coal Street in Wilkes-Barre. The shooting
allegedly took place after a verbal argument between the suspects and the
victims.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “Our society
must not tolerate such violence and should be committed to ensuring that
dangerous fugitives are brought before the court. We are committed to ensuring
this and it is my sincere hope these arrests bring some sense of calm to the
citizens of Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding communities.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel
from the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police,
Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Scranton Police Department, Hanover
Township Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
