PITTSBURGH – An Allegheny County man has been sentenced in
federal court to 12 years and seven months (151 months) in prison on his
conviction of distribution of fentanyl and possession of a firearm by a
convicted felon, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti
imposed the sentence yesterday on Ryan Williams, 31, of Monroeville,
Pennsylvania.
According to information presented to the court, on or about
November 23, 2016, Williams distributed a quantity of fentanyl to an individual
who later used the fentanyl and died from an overdose. Additionally, on
December 1, 2016, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Williams’
residence and found him to be in possession of a Glock .40 caliber pistol.
Given his prior felony convictions, Williams is not permitted to possess a
firearm.
Assistant United States Attorney Lee J. Karl prosecuted this
case on behalf of the government.
United States Attorney Brady commended the Monroeville
Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation
leading to the successful prosecution of Williams.
