FORT WAYNE – Edgar Moreno-Ramirez, 27, of Mexico City,
Mexico, was sentenced before Chief Judge Theresa L. Springmann on his plea of
guilty to the charge of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams
of methamphetamine and more than 1 kilogram of heroin and for possessing a
firearm in furtherance of the drug trafficking offense, announced U.S. Attorney
Thomas L. Kirsch II.
Moreno-Ramirez was sentenced to 181 months in prison.
According to documents in this case, from October 1, 2015,
Moreno-Ramirez and his co-defendants were operating a drug distribution house
while armed, out of a residence in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This case was investigated by the DEA, the U.S. Postal
Inspection Service, and the ATF, with assistance from the Allen County Drug
Task Force as well as the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony W. Geller.
