Bronx, NY - 32 year old Jonathan Brown was arrested by a
team of U.S. Marshals from the Southern District of New York and NYPD
Detectives from the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task
Force (NY/NJ RFTF).
Jonathan Brown was being sought on a state warrant issued
out of Oneida County, New York for his alleged participation in the 2014
shooting and murder of 23-year-old Andre Lamar Oliver-Kenny outside of Two J’s
Bar in Utica. This incident was Utica’s first homicide of 2014 and gained
widespread media coverage in the area.
After a long and tireless investigation, investigators from
Utica believed Brown may have relocated to a relative’s home in the Bronx. Acting
on information from investigators in Utica and assistance from the public, U.S.
Marshals in New York were able to narrow down Brown’s possible location. On the
morning of February 16th, U.S. Marshals and NYPD Detectives closed in on the
relative’s address in the Bronx and arrested Brown without incident. Brown was
transferred to the custody of the Utica Police Department where he was
arraigned and currently being held at Oneida County Jail.
Michael Greco, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of New
York stated: “This arrest and the outstanding cooperative efforts of the Utica
Police Department, New York State Police and U.S. Marshals Service demonstrate
the effectiveness and impact of collaborating resources to locate and capture
fugitives.”
