Fairfax County Suspect Arrested for Sexual Assault of a 14 Year Old
Alexandria, VA – U.S.
Marshal Bobby Mathieson announces the capture of John Earl Gorham. The U.S.
Parole Commission issued an arrest warrant for Gorham on Oct. 17, regarding the
subject’s original conviction of sodomy, kidnapping and assault with the intent
to commit sodomy. Gorham was convicted and sentenced to 35 years on these
charges.
Gorham violated the
conditions of his release by obtaining new charges in Fairfax County, VA.
Gorham was arrested for being drunk in public and for sexually assaulting a
14-year-old female at a Chantilly High School football game.
The United States Marshals
Service and task force partners from the Diplomatic Security Service located
Gorham at his residence on Church Lane in Bowie, MD. The subject was arrested
without incident and turned over to the U.S. District Court in the District of
Columbia for prosecution.
The U.S. Marshals’ Capital
Area Regional Fugitive Task Force was founded in 2004 and arrests to date
number in the tens of thousands. The success of the task force directly
correlates to it being a truly joint endeavor, with agencies such as the Diplomatic
Security service, which became a member- agency in 2008. Each agency brings its
unique skills and expertise toward the common goal of pursuing and arresting
the worst of the worst.
The U.S. Marshals Service
arrested more than 36,200 federal fugitives and 86,400 state and local
fugitives in fiscal year 2011.
