Mission Man Sentenced for Abusive Sexual Contact

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission, South Dakota man charged with abusive sexual contact was sentenced on January 9, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Eugene L. Featherman, age 23, was sentenced to nine months in custody, nine months of community confinement, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Featherman was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 12, 2011, and pled guilty to the charge on October 17, 2011. On or about the 1st day of May, 2005, and the 31st day of August, 2005, Featherman had sexual contact with a child who had not attained the age of 12.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Marie H. Ruettgers prosecuted the case.

Featherman was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.
