"Mr. Magoo Bandit" Arrested

San Diego FBI Special Agent in Charge Keith Slotter announces the arrest of Scott James Larson, age 43, as a result of the investigation into the “Mr. Magoo Bandit” serial bank robbery investigation.

Larson was taken into custody at the San Diego FBI office, 9797 Aero Drive, San Diego, California, on Monday, October 17, 2011, without incident. Larson voluntarily surrendered to agents after he was advised that he was being sought by law enforcement in connection with a serial bank robbery investigation. After surrendering to FBI agents, Larson was interviewed by an FBI agent and a San Diego Police Department robbery detective concerning his alleged bank robbery activity.

According to the complaint filed in this matter with the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, Larson confessed to robbing the U.S. Bank, located at 3201 University Avenue, San Diego, California, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. During this robbery, Larson allegedly used a demand note to rob a teller. After receiving a sum of money, Larson exited the bank, walked through the alley, turned right and walked behind a store, and continued walking for several blocks.

The robbery of the U.S. Bank, 3201 University, San Diego, California, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, is considered one of 12 banks in the “Mr. Magoo Bandit” series.
