Denise Samuels, age 53, was arrested earlier today by San Diego police officers following the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 3505 Sports Arena Boulevard , San Diego , California .
On Tuesday, March 15, 2011 , at approximately , the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 3505 Sports Arena Boulevard , San Diego , California , was robbed by an unknown woman, later identified as Denise Samuels.
At the time of the robbery, Samuels allegedly presented a demand note to the bank manager. The note threatened a weapon and demanded a specific amount of money. The manager, who did not have cash on hand, walked over to a teller and obtained a sum of money. After receiving a sum of money, Samuels walked out of the bank.
The bank robber suspect description was communicated to responding San Diego police officers who located and detained Samuels. Samuels was later identified by a witness as the woman who robbed the bank. Samuels was taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Vista Detention Center .
Samuels is expected to appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on or about Wednesday, March 16, 2011 . This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
An arrest itself is not evidence that the defendant committed the crimes charged. The defendant is presumed innocent until the government meets its burden in court of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
