CBP Detains Business Traveler Wanted in Florida

Wanted for charges of Grand Theft & Scheme to Defraud in Osceola County

St. Croix, USVI – A traveler returning from a business trip was identified yesterday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers with an outstanding warrant for charges of Grand Theft & Scheme to Defraud in Osceola County, Florida.

Ramon Jusino, 47, a resident of Santurce, Puerto Rico, presented himself for CBP inspection at the Henry E. Rholsen Airport before boarding an American Eagle flight bound to San Juan after computer systems alerted of a positive match to a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) docket.

CBP contacted Osceola County Police to corroborate the warrant, transferring his custody to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations agents for extradition proceedings.

CBP Officers detect many individuals wanted by authorities in the continental U.S. upon their return to the mainland from Puerto Rico and the USVI.

“CBP officers seek to assist other law enforcement authorities in securing the arrest of those individuals who are wanted for the commission of serious crimes,” said Marcelino Borges, director of field operations for Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
