This was a policing initiative that sought to reduce gun violence in Indianapolis, Ind., by targeting high-crime areas and high-risk individuals. The program is rated No Effects. There were no statistically significant differences between the targeted intervention areas and comparison areas in homicides, aggravated assault with a gun, armed robbery, and total gun crimes. In 2011, the Indianapolis Directed Patrol program was rated Promising based on a single study.
