U.S. Department of Justice Releases New Transgender Awareness Training Video for Law Enforcement

According to a study by the U.S. National LGBTQ Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE), one in four transgender persons have been subjected to transphobic violence. In recognition of the prevalence of this problem, the DOJ Community Relations Service (CRS) recently released a new training video, "Law Enforcement and the Transgender Community."

This 12:48 roll call training video features scenarios of three of the most common ways police officers encounter members of the transgender community and provides information, tools and techniques to help ensure interactions are mutually respectful and professional.
