'Fugitive of the Week' Located & Arrested in Minnesota



Concord, NH - Last week’s “Fugitive of the Week,” Robert Paul Gere, 26, was arrested this past Friday by the U.S. Marshals in Minnesota. Gere was wanted on an outstanding federal arrest warrant issued out of the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH. This warrant alleges Mr. Gere’s involvement in the attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, and for the possession of material used to manufacture methamphetamine.

As part of the U.S. Marshals fugitive investigation, Gere was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on September 7th. The “Fugitive of the Week” was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, The Manchester Ink Link and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week” has been a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007.

Deputy U.S. Marshals here in NH did a lot of research on this case and learned that Gere had been arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota in July, 2016 for possessing brass knuckles, providing a false name, and a motor vehicle violation and was released on bail. Based on the information developed, Deputy Vetanze contacted the U.S. Marshal’s office in Minneapolis and requested their assistance. On Friday afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was able to locate and arrest Gere without incident in an apartment in the 900 block of Portland Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Gere was transported to the federal courthouse in Minneapolis for his initial court appearance. Gere was ordered held pending his return to New Hampshire to face his federal narcotics charges.

Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 6,340 arrests (Updated as of 05/03/2016).These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 7 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
