Task Force Arrests Cincinnati Murder Suspect in Florida

Orlando, FL – The U.S. Marshals’ Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF) arrested fugitive Michael Prewitt on February 8, 2016 on an outstanding warrant from the Hamilton County Municipal Court, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Prewitt, 40, was wanted by the Cincinnati Police Department. The warrant was assigned to a Cincinnati Police Detective on the Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals’ Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST). Prewitt allegedly shot a male and a female victim with a firearm on December 8, 2015 in the 900 block of Purcell Ave in Cincinnati, Ohio. The female victim who was allegedly shot by Prewitt succumbed to her injuries and died. Cincinnati Police identified the female victim in this incident as Keisha Jendrysik. Cincinnati Police Department received information Prewitt was in the Orlando, Florida area and provided the location to SOFAST. The U.S. Marshals’ Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force in the Orlando Office was contacted and they quickly located Prewitt in the Orlando, Florida metro area and arrested him on the outstanding Cincinnati charges.

Prewitt is currently in custody in the Orange County Sheriff's Office and will soon be extradited back to Cincinnati, Ohio. Prewitt could face a new charge of murder from the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, Cincinnati, Ohio in the future.

Cincinnati’s SOFAST is a fugitive focused, U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state, and federal authorities including the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Colerain Township Police Department, Newtown Police Department and Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

U.S. Marshals are the nation’s primary fugitive hunting organization and capture more federal fugitives each year than all other law enforcement agencies combined.
