PHILADELPHIA – United States Attorney William M. McSwain
announced today that Ricky Fountain, 41, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was
sentenced today to 144 months’ imprisonment and five years’ supervised release
after pleading guilty to four counts of distribution of cocaine base, one count
of distribution of cocaine, and one count of possession of a firearm by a
convicted felon. Senior United States
District Judge R. Barclay Surrick imposed the sentence.
“Illegal firearms possession and drug trafficking is a
deadly combination,” said U.S. Attorney McSwain. “This case is an example of federal and local
law enforcement working together to stop the flow of illegal narcotics onto the
streets of Philadelphia. My Office will
continue to aggressively prosecute these crimes to keep our communities safe.”
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department and is being prosecuted by
Assistant United States Attorneys Mary E. Crawley and Alison Donahue Kehner.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods
(PSN), a program that has been historically successful in bringing together all
levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods
safer for everyone.
