JACKSON, MS—The FBI Safe Streets Task Force arrested
37-year-old Edward Corneilus Bridges, aka “Pooh,” of Moss Point, Mississippi on
charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled
substance—methamphetamine on March 22, 2018.
The FBI Task Force seized approximately 4.5 pounds of
Crystal Methamphetamine, 2 ounces of Cocaine, 46 dosage units of Ecstasy and a
7.62 caliber SKS Semi-Automatic Rifle from Bridges’ residence on Ann Street in
Moss Point. If convicted, Bridges faces a sentence of 10 years to life in a
federal penitentiary and a fine of up to $10 million.
Bridges made his initial appearance before United States
Magistrate Robert H. Walker, United States District Court for the Southern
District of Mississippi on Friday, March 23, 2018 in Gulfport. Magistrate Judge
Walker ordered Bridges to be held pending a Preliminary and Detention hearing
set for 9 a.m. on March 28, 2018.
The FBI Safe Streets Task Force is a Gulf Coast High
Intensity Drug Trafficking Area initiative and receives funding from the Office
of National Drug Control Policy in Washington, D.C. It is made up of special
agents from the FBI and law enforcement officers from the Pascagoula, Moss
Point, Gautier and Ocean Springs Police Departments, Jackson County Sheriff’s
Office, and U.S. Border Patrol. The South Mississippi Metropolitan Enforcement
Team in Pascagoula, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and the Moss Point
Police Department also assisted with the investigation.
These charges are merely an accusation, and Bridges is
presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of
law.
