John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of
Connecticut, today announced that TYEVHON KING, also known as “Twin,” 30, of
Bridgeport, pleaded guilty yesterday in Hartford federal court to one count of
conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute one kilogram
or more of heroin.
According to court documents and statements made in court,
KING was a member of a Bridgeport-based heroin trafficking organization that,
between approximately April 2015 and March 2017, received at least 30 kilograms
of heroin that had been transported from Mexico, and then distributed the drug
in the Bridgeport area. The investigation,
which included multiple controlled purchases of heroin from KING, revealed that
KING regularly received a total of more than three kilograms of heroin, which
he distributed to his own customers.
During the investigation, investigators seized vehicles
owned by KING that contained “traps,” typically used to conceal narcotics and
other contraband.
On March 16, 2017, a grand jury in Hartford returned an
indictment charging KING and six other individuals with heroin trafficking and
related offenses.
KING has been detained since his arrest on March 24,
2017. He is scheduled to be sentenced by
U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant on May 10, at which time he faces a
mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years maximum term of imprisonment
of life.
This matter is being investigated by the FBI’s Bridgeport
Safe Streets Task Force, DEA’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area
Task Force, and Bridgeport Police Department.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph Vizcarrondo
and Alina Reynolds.
