Kona, HI - On Monday, November 02, 2015, members of the U.S.
Marshals, Hawaii County Police Department (HCPD), and the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted a four-day operation in Kona
targeting fugitives with outstanding state felony arrest warrants. The focus of
the operation targeted fugitives wanted for crimes of violence to include
homicide, assault, robbery, firearms and explosives, sex offenses, narcotics,
and gang and organized crime affiliations. The four-day operation resulted in
the arrest of 25 fugitives, the execution of 42 outstanding state arrest
warrants, and generated a total bail amount of $686,750 for all warrants executed.
In addition 3.94 pounds of processed and packaged marijuana, 18 marijuana
plants, and various amounts of acetaminophen with hydrocodone and hashish, with
supplies for narcotics distribution was seized from a residence where a
fugitive was located and arrested on a firearms and narcotics warrant. All
seized narcotics were turned over to HCPD Officers for further investigation
and prosecution of new charges.
The joint efforts of the U.S. Marshals, HCPD, and ATF in
conjunction with the Hawaii High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA)
showcased the importance of multi-agency operations to maximize resources and
make the biggest impact against crime in our communities. By doing so a large
number of fugitives wanted for violent crimes and large amounts of narcotics
were removed from the streets in a short amount of time making our communities
safer.
