Tucson,
AZ – This morning, Jereal Lee Turner was arrested by Deputy U.S. Marshals and
investigators with the U.S. Marshals led Violent Offender Task Force in Tucson.
On
August 2, 2013, Jereal Turner, age 27, removed his ankle monitoring bracelet
and fled from the half-way house where he was required to reside as a condition
of his county probation. On the same day, a felony arrest warrant with full
extradition was issued for Turner. In 2007, Turner was convicted of sexually
assaulting the 6-year old daughter of his ex-girlfriend and sentenced to five
years in prison. Turner is classified as a level 3 sex offender and is required
to abide by all sex offender conditions, to include wearing an ankle monitoring
bracelet and adhering to registration requirements.
Early
this morning, Deputy U.S. Marshals and investigators established a perimeter
around a residence associated with Turner located in the 4400 block of Wetmore
and Schafer. While conducting interviews at the residence, Turner attempted to
flee out the back door but was apprehended by the perimeter team. He was
transported and booked into the Pima County Jail. Turner is facing additional
charges of failure to register as a sex offender. Charges are also being
considered against individuals who hindered and provided false information
during the course of the investigation.
“A
dangerous fugitive’s run has ended after several weeks” said U.S. Marshal David
Gonzales. He added, “By working together, U.S. Marshals Service personnel and
