ATLANTA—Acting Special Agent in Charge
(ASAC) Ricky Maxwell and Sandy Springs Police Chief Terry Sult announce the
following arrests at Atlanta, Georgia, and Sandy Springs, Georgia, in
connection with the August 30, 2012 armed bank robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank
branch located at 6300 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, Georgia:
On August 31, 2012, officers of the
Atlanta Police Department initiated a traffic stop at 610 Spring Street in
Atlanta, Georgia, on 2010 Ford Focus that was driving in the wrong direction.
This routine traffic stop escalated into a more in-depth investigation of the
driver, Shamir Guillaume, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Based on
the results of the traffic stop, Guillaume, age 20, of Atlanta, and an
associate, Sean Theodis, age 26 of Virginia, were charged via federal criminal
complaint with violation of Title 18 USC Section 2113 (a) and (d) bank robbery.
On Saturday, September 8, 2012, further
investigation by officers of the Sandy Springs Police Department resulted in
the arrest of Rhakeem Butler, age 22. Butler is also charged via federal criminal
complaint with violation of Title 18 USC Section 2113 (a) and (d) bank robbery.
Butler, of the Washington, D.C. area, is further charged with violation of
Title 18 USC 924(c), use of a weapon in furtherance of a crime of violence.
A fourth individual, Kelvin Purdic, aka
Kelvin Purdy, age 24, of North Carolina, is also charged federally in the above
matter on conspiracy related charges in the matter and violation of the Hobbs
Act. He is described as being a black male, 6’3” in height, weighing 175 lbs.,
slender build, and frequents the Peachtree Dunwoody area of metro Atlanta.

On Monday, September 10, 2012, the above
three individuals were afforded an initial appearance in front of a U.S.
Magistrate Judge in Atlanta, Georgia.
The public is reminded that the above
are merely allegations and that all persons are to be presumed innocent until
proven guilty in a court of law.
