St. Paul Man Sentenced for Robbing US Bank on Payne Avenue

A 31-year-old St. Paul man was sentenced earlier today in federal court in Minneapolis for the September 3, 2009 robbery of the US Bank in the 1000 block of Payne Avenue. United States District Court Judge Joan N. Ericksen sentenced Antoine Jackson to 60 months in prison on one count of bank robbery. Jackson was indicted on September 22, 2009, and pleaded guilty on December 9, 2009.

In his plea agreement, Jackson admitted stealing $1,824 from the bank. According to a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit, at 8:50 a.m. on September 3, the robber, later identified as Jackson, handed a bank teller a note that read, “Give me the money now! No! dye packs 1 min. Big bills first nothing to lose.” The back side of the note read, “U better hope I make it out!”

After grabbing money from the teller, Jackson stuffed it into his pocket, and left the premises on foot. He was apprehended by authorities at 9:05 a.m., when they found him hiding in the yard of a home just three blocks from the bank. Money from the bank was in his possession.

This case was the result of an investigation by the St. Paul Police Department and the FBI. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William J. Otteson.
