Harrisburg Man Charged with Robbing Banks in Harrisburg and York

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that a Harrisburg man was indicted by a federal grand jury in Harrisburg today on bank robbery charges.

According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Angel M. Pomales, age 43, is charged with allegedly robbing the Fulton Bank and Sovereign Bank, both in Harrisburg, and the White Rose Credit Union in York, Pennsylvania.

On March 14, 2002, the Fulton Bank located at 1429 North Third Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was robbed and $2,000 was stolen from the bank. A week later, on March 22, 2012, the Sovereign Bank located at 235 North Second Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was robbed and again $2,000 was stolen from the bank. On April 2, 2012, the White Rose Credit Union located at 107 E. Philadelphia Street, York, Pennsylvania, was robbed and $2,000 was stolen from the bank.

If convicted, Pomales faces a maximum of 60 years’ imprisonment and fines of up to $750,000.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Capital City Safe Streets Task Force; Harrisburg City Police Department; Swatara Township Police Department; and the York City Police Department. Prosecution has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Daryl F. Bloom.

A charged defendant is presumed innocent until a jury returns a unanimous finding that the United States has proven the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt or until the defendant has pled guilty to the charges.

U.S. Marshals Arrest York Murder Suspect in Rochester, NY

Harrisburg, PA – United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced that yesterday the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) arrested Richard Larry Nolden Jr., a 21-year old man originally from York, PA.

Nolden was sought by the York City Police Department for a homicide that occurred on the afternoon of Monday, January 23, 2012 on North Queen Street, near East Philadelphia Street.

The USMS adopted the fugitive case immediately and Deputy U.S. Marshals began their search for Nolden. Yesterday, those Deputies learned that he was staying in Rochester, New York. This information was forwarded to the USMS - Western District of New York. At about 5:45 PM, Deputy U.S. Marshals arrested Nolden in the 100 block of Scrantom Street in Rochester. Nolden was turned over to local authorities pending extradition to Pennsylvania.

United States Marshal Pane stated, “Historically, Marshals tracked the most dangerous fugitive wherever they fled. Today’s arrest demonstrated a modern day commitment to that same mission and our communities are safer for it.”

U.S. Marshals were assisted by several agencies that comprise its Middle District of Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force. This included officers from the York City Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police.

The concept of all USMS-led fugitive task forces is to seek out and arrest the nation’s most dangerous and violent offenders.
