U.S. Marshals Arrest Massachusetts Murder Suspect



Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service, Vermont Violent Offender Task Force (VVOTF) arrested a fugitive wanted by the State of Massachusetts for Murder.

Yabdiel Castro, 18, of Springfield, Massachusetts was arrested on November 16, 2016 in Northfield, Vermont when confronted by Deputy U.S. Marshals.

On September 12, 2016 a murder warrant was issued by the Springfield, Massachusetts Police Department for Castro. On November 16, 2016 The Springfield, Massachusetts Police Department, The Massachusetts State Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service developed information that Castro was possibly in the greater Northfield, Vermont area.

On November 16, 2016 the VVOTF converged on the greater Northfield area and eventually located and arrested Castro.

On November 17, 2016 Castro was seen in The Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division, charging Castro as a Fugitive From Justice. Castro was held without bail and is awaiting extradition back to the The State of Massachusetts to face the murder charges.

Castro had been a fugitive since September 12, 2016. It is alleged that Castro was actively evading arrest from law enforcement, fled the Springfield, Massachusetts area and was subsequently arrested by the VVOTF in Vermont.

This arrest was the result of a culmination of investigative efforts by the U.S. Marshals VVOTF, the U.S. Marshals Service, District of Massachusetts, The Northfield Police Department, The Springfield, Massachusetts Police Department, The Massachusetts State Police, and The Vermont State Police. All inquiries regarding this case should be referred to the Springfield, Massachusetts Police Department.
