U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Shooting Suspects

Scranton, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin Pane announced the arrest of Dashawn McLendon, 21, and Ibn McClain, 15, wanted for aggravated assault with a firearm as well as other related offenses.

It is alleged that on December 4, 2015 both McLendon and McClain shot and robbed their victim. Subsequently after the shooting, the Wilkes-Barre Police Department filed criminal complaints charging both with aggravated assault-general-firearm, robbery-inflict serious body injury-firearm, firearms act-convict/other persons not to possess firearms and firearms act-carry firearm without a license.

In the early morning hours of December 10, deputy U.S. marshals, task force officers from the Middle and Eastern District of Pennsylvania and South Whitehall Township Police Department arrested McLendon and McClain at a hotel in Allentown, PA. After the fugitives ignored various verbal commands to surrender, the hotel door was breached and they were taken into custody without further incident. Four firearms were recovered in the hotel room. South Whitehall Township SERT Team played a significant role in their arrest. McLendon was transported back to Luzerne County and McClain was turned over to the Luzerne County Juvenile Probation Office.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The top priority of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force is to arrest violent offenders, especially those who use guns against our citizens. It is my sincere hope that these arrests bring some measure of comfort to the victim.”

The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel from the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, South Whitehall Township Police Department as well as members of the South Whitehall Township Police Departments SERT team.
