Madison Man Sentenced for Possessing Crack Cocaine

MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Basil D. Greene, 21, of Madison, Wisconsin, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 30 months in prison for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. Greene pleaded guilty to this charge on December 9, 2011.

On March 17, 2011, law enforcement agents conducted a search of a storage locker in Madison belonging to Greene. During the search, officers found 22 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded firearm, scales, and other drug packaging materials. Greene’s DNA was found on the firearm and the crack cocaine packaging.

The charges against Greene were the result of an investigation conducted by Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Madison Police Department. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Reinhard.
