Third Luna County Escapee Back Behind Bars

Deming, NM - The last of three escapees from the Luna County Detention Center, Mario Martinez-Rios, was arrested this evening in Deming, NM. "This intensive investigation spanned three states, until Deputy U.S. Marshals in Denver Colorado developed information that led our Deputy Marshals and SWIFT Task Force Officers right to a residence in Deming, NM" said, Conrad Candelaria, United States Marshal for the District of New Mexico.

Acting on the information from the Denver Deputies, Deputy U.S. Marshals in Las Cruces with the coordination of the Deming Police Department conducted surveillance at a mobile home park located at 1120 W Spruce St. in Deming NM. Approximately two hours later the fugitive Martinez-Rios was observed exiting a vacant mobile home. “As soon as the fugitive was identified Deputy U.S. Marshals and Deming Police moved in and arrested Mario Martinez-Rios" said, Marshal Candelaria. Martinez-Rios will not be headed back to the Luna County Detention Center; instead he will be taken to the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he will await his appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Federal District Court on Monday.
