Alexandria Man Indicted for Murder of Federal Agent, Attempted Murder of Another Federal Agent, and Related Firearm Crimes

ALEXANDRIA/LAFAYETTE – On August 5, 2026, a press conference was held at the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office to discuss the return of the federal indictment against Clarence A. Frazier, 48, of Alexandria, who is charged with the murder of Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Hanson and the attempted murder of a U.S. Marshals Service task force officer, along with related firearm crimes. Frazier faces up to life imprisonment or death if convicted. This indictment returned by a federal grand jury follows the U.S. Attorney’s Office charging Frazier by criminal complaint with the murder of Deputy Marshal Hanson.

During the press conference, U.S. Marshal Brian H. Barber, Rapides Parish Sheriff Mark Wood, FBI Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Tapp, and Rapides Parish District Attorney Phillip Terrell also delivered remarks honoring the life, service, and sacrifice of Deputy Marshal Hanson. Also in attendance were representatives of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Louisiana State Police, and the Alexandria Police Department.

According to court documents, Deputy Marshal Hanson was murdered on July 14, 2026, while performing his official duties alongside federal and state law enforcement personnel attempting to apprehend Frazier following his failure to appear in state court on a sexual battery charge. Officers from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service approached Frazier’s residence to execute lawful warrants. Upon the officers’ entry, Frazier allegedly barricaded himself in a bedroom and opened fire, fatally striking Deputy Marshal Hanson and endangering additional officers on the scene. Hanson was a husband and father of two. 

U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller for the Western District of Louisiana made the announcement.

The United States Marshals Service, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office investigated this case. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel Vermaelen, John W. Nickel, and Elliott Cassidy with assistance from Paralegal Specialists Joanne Henry‑Mills and Denise Duhon. 

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

This Week’s ‘Fugitive of the Week’ Arrested Thanks to Multiple Tipsters



Concord, NH – On Friday, July 24, 2015, “Fugitive of the Week,” Charles Sally, Jr., 29, was arrested without incident in Lowell, Massachusetts by members of the Lowell Police Department.

Sally was being sought on an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation out of New Hampshire. Sally was on parole as a result of a conviction and sentence for 1st degree assault. Sally has an extensive criminal history, including many violent offenses.

As part of the U.S. Marshals fugitive investigation, Sally was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” just this past Wednesday. The “Fugitive of the Week” was broadcasted on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, The Manchester Ink Link and is prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week” continues to be very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007.

Once again, this arrest was due to the remarkable cooperation of our media partners and the willingness of numerous people to come forward with information about the whereabouts of Sally. All of the tips received pointed to a an apartment on Cady Street in Lowell, Massachusetts. The tipsters also indicated that Sally was likely to be leaving soon to avoid arrest. Based on these multiple tips and the information that Sally was considering leaving, the U.S. Marshals in New Hampshire contacted the Lowell Police Department and requested their immediate assistance. Lowell Police Officers went to the Cady Street apartment and located and arrested Charles Sally this morning without incident. Sally is being charged as a fugitive from justice in Massachusetts, based on the outstanding NH parole warrant. Sally will be held at the Middlesex County Jail, pending his return to the NH State Prison.

Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 5,869 arrests (Updated as of 12/4/2014). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 7 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.

U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Harrisburg Homicide Fugitive in North Carolina



Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin Pane announced the arrest of Shawn Walker, a 49-year old man, on charges of criminal homicide and other related offenses.

Earlier today, Deputy U.S. Marshals and task force officers from the U.S. Marshals Service’s (USMS) Eastern District of North Carolina arrested Walker at a location in Creedmoor, NC. Walker was turned over to local authorities pending his extradition to Dauphin County.

Walker was charged by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police with criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of firearm. It is alleged that, in the early morning hours of July 12, 2015, Walker shot his victim, causing his death, in the 400 block of Crescent Street.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The coordination and cooperation demonstrated by law enforcement in this case led directly to a dangerous fugitive being taken off the streets. It is our top priority to arrest violent crime fugitives, especially those who have no regard for human life.”

The United States Marshals Service worked jointly in this investigation with personnel from the Harrisburg Bureau of Police as well as U.S. Marshals from the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Man wanted for allegedly murdering wife while children slept

San Francisco, CA - The Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF) announces the arrest of Harinder Singh Cheema, 30, who was taken into custody Thursday in Fremont, California. Cheema is wanted by Canadian authorities in Montreal for stabbing and killing his wife, Manpreet Kaur, while his children slept in 2007. After the killing, Cheema allegedly left his two infant children with a friend of his deceased wife and fled to the United States under the alias “Baljit Singh”. Cheema remarried and was employed as a luxury limousine driver in the Fremont area until his recent arrest.

PSWRFTF members developed information regarding the possible whereabouts of Cheema and set up surveillance within the 4000 block of Central Avenue in Fremont. After several hours, Cheema arrived driving a white Honda Accord. Cheema was immediately detained without incident.

“This arrest demonstrates that no matter how far you run, no matter where you go, you cannot escape justice,” said Don O’Keefe, the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of California. “Our cooperative relationships with our international and domestic law enforcement partners were paramount in Cheema’s successful apprehension.”

Cheema was booked into the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office and is being held without bail. He is awaiting extradition to Canada to answer for his alleged crime.
