U.S. Marshals Arrest Montgomery County Rape Suspect

Dayton, OH - U.S. Marshal Pete Tobin is pleased to announce that early this morning at approximately 6:30 A.M., the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested Zachary Wilson, age 24. A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Zachary Wilson on charges of Rape and Kidnapping.

SOFAST was asked to assist on the case by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Kettering Police Department. Through the investigation, SOFAST developed information that Wilson was hiding at an address on Ashwood Street in Dayton. SOFAST located the residence and located Wilson inside. Wilson was apprehended and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

The U.S. Marshals led SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of the Dayton Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Grandview Hospital Police Department, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Springboro Police Department and the Wright State University Police.

The U.S. Marshals Service is the nation’s primary fugitive hunting organization and captures more federal fugitives each year than all other law enforcement agencies combined.

U.S. Marshals Arrest Shelby County Rape Suspect

Dayton, OH – U.S. Marshal Pete Tobin is pleased to announce that yesterday morning at approximately 6:30 A.M., the U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested Andrew Liles, age 20. A Shelby County grand jury indicted Andrew Liles on 6 counts of Rape, 2 counts of Gross Sexual Imposition, Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor, and 2 counts of Corrupting a Minor with Drugs. The charges stem from an incident that was reported in August of 2015.

SOFAST worked side by side with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to quickly get Liles into custody. Liles had fled Shelby County, believing he could avoid the warrants. Through the investigation, SOFAST developed information that Liles was hiding at an address on Nassau Street in Dayton. SOFAST located the residence and gave Liles an early morning wakeup call. Liles was apprehended and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. Deputy U.S. Marshal Nathan Lupica stated, “Through cooperative efforts such as SOFAST, dangerous fugitives who prey on children will be brought to justice”.

U.S. Marshals Arrest Convicted Rapist Accused of Raping Again

Norfolk, VA – United States Marshal Robert W. Mathieson announces the capture of Gerald Leland Griffin. The 46 year-old Griffin was wanted out of Delaware with an outstanding warrant for Rape Second Degree.

Griffin, who is classified as a Violent Sex Offender, was convicted of rape in Newport News back in 1989 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. On June 23, 2015, Griffin was indicted in New Castle County, Delaware, for allegedly raping a female that was known to him in late 2014. On July 28, 2015, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Griffin based off information provided by the U.S. Marshals in Delaware. Griffin was taken into custody without incident at a residence on the 1700 block of Chestnut Avenue in Newport News around 11:00 A.M.

Griffin is currently being held at Newport News City Jail awaiting extradition to Delaware.

The U.S. Marshals-led Fugitive Task Force consists of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office, Newport News Police Department, Portsmouth Police Department and Norfolk Police Department. The main objective of the task force is to seek out and arrest violent offenders with outstanding federal and state warrants.
