Suspect Arrested in Connection with Shooting, Stabbing of Navajo Woman

Perfinna King, 32, of the Navajo Nation, has been arrested in connection with the April 6, 2012 stabbing and shooting of a Navajo woman in Ojo Amarillo, on the Navajo Indian reservation near Farmington, New Mexico.

King was arrested approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 at a residence in Upper Fruitland by patrol officers from the Navajo Police Department and members of the New Mexico Safe Trails Task Force.

A federal warrant had been issued for King in the stabbing and shooting of a 33-year-old woman, who is recovering.

The FBI is assisting the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations, which will prosecute the case in U.S. District Court.

The New Mexico Safe Trails Task Force is composed of Navajo law enforcement officers and the FBI.

Perfinna King, 32, of the Navajo Nation, is wanted on federal charges.

King is suspected in the stabbing and shooting of a 33-year-old woman whose identity is not being released at this time.

The woman was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center.

King should be considered armed and dangerous.

King is 5’5” tall, weighs about 165 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators Seek Public’s Help in Solving Navajo Man’s Death

The FBI and Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations are asking the public for information regarding an apparent hit-and-run death that occurred in Fruitland, New Mexico on Saturday night, February 11, 2012.

Stanley Begay, a 51-year-old Navajo man, was found dead on Navajo Route 36, near Mile Post 17, approximately 15 miles southwest of Farmington, at approximately 8:46 p.m. Saturday.

Begay was walking along Navajo Route 36 when he apparently was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.

No witnesses have come forward.

Investigators would like to talk to anyone who may have been driving in the area on Navajo Route 36 around the time Begay’s body was found.
