Fayetteville, Arkansas – David Clay Fowlkes, Acting United
States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, announced today that
Eugene Blackwood, age 47, of Westville, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 146 months
in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release on one count of
Distribution of Methamphetamine. The Honorable Judge Timothy L. Brooks presided
over the sentencing hearing in the United States District Court in
Fayetteville.
According to court records, in the fall of 2019, agents and
taskforce officers with the Drug Enforcement Administration initiated an
investigation into Blackwood concerning his drug distribution in Northwest Arkansas.
Throughout the course of the investigation, investigators were able to conduct
several controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Blackwood.
Blackwood was indicted by a federal grand jury in November
of 2019, and entered a guilty plea in December of 2019.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement
Administration. Assistant United States Attorney Kim Harris prosecuted the case
for the Western District of Arkansas.
