WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – Daniel P. Sprowl, of New
Martinsville, West Virginia, has admitted to possessing child pornography,
United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.
Sprowl, age 54, pled guilty to one count of “Possession of
Child Pornography.” Sprowl admitted to possessing images of child pornography
involving children under the age of 12 in November 2016 in Wetzel County.
Sprowl faces up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up
to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence
imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior
criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin is prosecuting the
case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the
West Virginia State Police investigated.
Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.,
presided.
