SOUTH BEND – United States Attorney for the Northern
District of Indiana, David Capp, announced that Jesus C. Madrigal, 25, of
Mishawaka, Indiana was sentenced before South Bend District Court Judge Jon. E.
DeGuilio for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
Madrigal was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment and 2
years supervised release.
According to documents filed in this case, Madrigal entered
a guilty plea for possession of cocaine. In March of 2016 Madrigal discharged a
firearm at “would-be” robbers at his home in Mishawaka, Indiana to protect
narcotics he had for sale.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosive and the South Bend Police Department. The case was
handled by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
