Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin Pane announced
the arrest of Eddie Poteet, a 36-year old man on charges of rape of a child and
other related offenses.
On August 4, 2015, the Y
ork City Police Department obtained
an arrest warrant charging Poteet with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse
with child, rape of child, indecent assault-person less than 13 years of age,
and corruption of minors.
On August 7, 2015, members of the USMS Fugitive Task Force
arrested Poteet without incident at a trailer park in York, Pa. Poteet was
turned over to local authorities pending judicial proceedings in the case.
United States Marshal Pane stated, “Fugitives charged with
serious felony offenses, especially those wanted for crimes against children
are given one of our highest priorities. It is my sincere hope that the victim
will find some measure of comfort knowing that the alleged attacker has been
brought to justice.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel
from the York City Police Department, York County District Attorney’s Office,
York County Sheriff’s Office and the Latimore Township Police Department.
