Mentoring Programs for Youth: A Promising Intervention for Delinquency Prevention

     WASHINGTON – The Office of Justice Programs’ National Institute of Justice today published an NIJ Journal article reviewing the current state of mentoring research, covering a range of issues involved in evaluating programs’ effectiveness and impact. Mentoring programs are a prominent strategy for preventing and reducing delinquent behavior among at-risk youth.

           The article outlines current challenges, such as recruiting members, understanding how mentoring relationships affect youth behavior, learning how evaluation activities will drive program improvements and evaluating the program across multiple sites.
