Holiday Bandit Strikes Again; Holds up Fourth Bank in New York

Marat G. Mikhaylich, dubbed the “Holiday Bandit” for his numerous alleged bank robberies throughout the holiday season, struck again at another New York bank.  On Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at , Mikhaylich entered a Capital One bank located at 31-17 Broadway, Astoria, New York, where he pointed a black handgun at the teller and robbed the branch.  Mikhaylich is wanted in connection with four bank robberies in the last two months.

Marat G. Mikhaylich is described as a white male, approximately 6’ to 6’2’’ tall, 35 years old, and approximately 200 lbs. During each robbery he was observed wearing a black hat, dark sunglasses, a black winter jacket, and dark pants.

“Someone, somewhere, knows Mikhaylich and we need that person to call us right away,” said Supervisory Special Agent Barbara Daly.  “Mikhaylich has allegedly robbed four banks using a black hand gun, repeatedly pointing the weapon at innocent bank staff. These crimes are as senseless as they are dangerous and can be stopped as easily as someone picking up the phone and calling the FBI-NYPD’s Joint Bank Robbery Task Force at 212-384-2816.”

A reward is available for a tip that breaks the case and callers may remain anonymous.  Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI-NYPD’s Joint Bank Robbery Task Force immediately at 212-384-2816 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
