Examining the Relationship Between Childhood Trauma and Involvement in the Justice System

 

Recent research is highlighting the link between childhood exposure to trauma among justice-involved youth, as well as the protective factors and treatment programs that may help prevent these youth from entering the justice system.   Our NIJ Journal article provides an overview of several studies, and implications for preventing violence, reducing the impact of violence on children and youth, and improving the capacity of the criminal and juvenile justice systems.   READ THE ARTICLE
