WASHINGTON –
The Office of Justice Programs’ National Institute of Justice today released
two manuals to help law enforcement agencies employ evidence-based policing and
enhance procedures to collect, handle and process digital evidence.
Evidence-based policing uses data,
analysis and research to measure effective policing strategies. Evidence-Based
Policing in 45 Small Bytes covers assessing performance, identifying and
analyzing problems, and evaluating practices in law enforcement.
Digital
Evidence Policies and Procedures Manual addresses evidence handling and
processing from computers, cellphones, GPS units, cameras and other devices.
This publication will also help agencies complete the requirements of the
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies regarding the
collection, handling and processing of digital evidence.
